An Eden Project wedding with a very special first look - Betzy and James

Cornwall’s Eden Project is a pretty special venue for a wedding, and with the grandest of eco-friendly and charitable intentions, it’s a pretty cool venue to choose as well. Betzy and James had a gorgeous, eco-chic and unique Eden Project wedding with some glorious details I’ve been excited to show you!

Their wedding photographer, lovely Jason Mark Harris, submitted their beautiful wedding a week or two ago, and the beautiful bride and groom have very kindly shared their wedding report with us all today. My three favourite things: Betzy’s stunning wedding dress by David Western Bridal (the back detailing is exquisite!), their Choccywoccydoodah cake (always a winner!) and the overall atmosphere of their incredible day. I’d love to see more eco-chic weddings on the blog… so if that’s you too, do get in touch!

For today though, I hope (well, I kind of already know) you’ll enjoy seeing all the lovely images of James and Betzy’s Eden Project wedding. Leave a comment if you have a sec! Claire xxx

The bride and groom: Betzy and James

Wedding venue:

The Eden Project, Cornwall.

Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?

Our wedding was a unique experience with a relaxed atmosphere.

What was your reaction to seeing your wedding photos for the first time? Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

Very pleased. Jason captured our day in a very natural way and the photos looked absolutely beautiful. The photos are perfect memories from our day! Also Jason our  photographer suggested doing a ‘first look’ just before the ceremony. James and I have  both agreed that this was the best part of our day and we love the series of photos taken.

Your wedding style and theme:

I guess our style was simple, modern and quirky.

Any happy tears on the day?

Yes, lots. Most of my girl friends were crying!

How long did you spend planning your wedding?

We booked our venue 10 months before the wedding. I was quite relaxed whilst planning the big day and spread my jobs over the 10 months with weekly checklists to complete.

Best bit of budget advice?

Write everything down and know exactly where your money is going.

Invitations and stationery:

I hand made and designed it all myself. This way I could have everything just how I wanted it.

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Yes!! I had the dress made for me so it wasn’t until about a week before until I saw it finished. It was very comfortable to wear and I felt amazing in it. www.davidwestern-bridal.co.uk

Glitz and sparkle: the bride’s accessories:

I wore a simple charm bracelet and a pair of opal earrings made by my mother.

The groom wore:

A grey three piece suit, seafoam green tie and white leather converse.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

A simple grey dress from Jigsaw and coral heels from Marks and Spencer.

Hair and makeup – did you DIY or hire a professional?

I used a salon in Charlestown (near the Eden project). I didn’t want any stress on the day, that why I used a salon.

Wedding flowers:

Seasonal flowers picked from the Eden Project. The bouquet was put together by the Eden
Project’s florist. I wanted quite a loose bouquet and the flowers we used were veronicastrum in white, orange alstroemerias, blue nigella.

The ceremony:

The ceremony was held in the Mediterranean biome of the Eden project. The surroundings were so beautiful and the weather was guaranteed.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

NO!! The Eden project’s surroundings were so incredible that we didn’t need any extra decoration.

The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?

I love chocolate cake so we had our cake made by Choccywoccydoodah. It was a traditional three tier cake but I guess it looked pretty quirky.

Entertainment:

Bren, a DJ from our hometown in Portsmouth played. He had a great variety of tunes, but
strictly no cheese! The Eden Project at night is unbelievable and we danced the night away complete with hundreds of glow sticks.

On the day tips and advice:

Relax, forget all the planning and stress, take it all in and enjoy the day!

What’s the best thing about being married?

Sharing such a wonderful day with James and having those memories forever.
